Erythropoiesis Stimulating Protein
Darbepoetin alpha (Aranesp)
Tx: Anemia in chronic kidney disease (CKD), pt on dialysis
Newer "poetin" with longer half life
Epoetin alpha (Epogen, Epocrit)
Tx: Anemia (lowering of RBCs) in CKD, CRF, zidovudine patient (Retrovir and also in Trizivir and Combivir), chemotherapy patient
SE: Thrombosis
Low Molecular Weight Heparin
Lovenox (Enoxaparin)
Low Mw heparin used in acute/prophylaxis DVT that may lead to pulmonary embolism, knee-hip replacement, MI surgery
1.5mg/kg Sc tend to be 30-40 mg once a day
Other LMwH Dalteparin (Fragmin), Tinzaparin (Innohep)
